Ibiza rewards anyone who books the right half. The south and west hold the big clubs, the sunset strips and the crowds. The north — Portinatx, Benirràs, the road to Sant Joan — is pine forest, small coves and near silence.
The beach clubs
Reserve a bed ahead for anywhere well known between June and September, and expect a minimum spend. Lunch that runs into evening is the local format; nobody is in a hurry.
When to go
May and October are the island at its best — warm water, everything open, none of the August crush. The season broadly runs May to early October.
Where to stay
Santa Eulària for a calm base with good restaurants. The north for quiet. Playa d’en Bossa if you want to be inside the noise.
